It is tax exempt money market fund. The tax exempt money market fund invests in only tax-exempt securities. It is exceptionally liquid money fund which gives income that is completely tax-free, although the tax exempt money market gives minimum income in the market.
In these troubled era, the tax exempt money market fund, gives a balance to your investment portfolio. Depending upon the current state of market, some tax exempt money market fund may give you higher returns.
These mutual funds deal with only money market instruments or cash or securities which are equal to cash. The investments always are liquid with credit of high quality and short-term. One of the important rules is that the average maturity of the fund must be 90 days. As with other mutual funds, they also have exchangeable units and all the rules which apply to other funds, also apply to these units.
These units have some unique features, like low initial investment, fast liquidity and security, which are popular among investors. Even in a volatile market, these mutual funds are considered as a very safe investment, as they invest in securities. Today, security is considered as a very stable and safe investment in the market. These funds also provide a sound return on the investment. Also, you can start by investing a very low amount in these funds. All these advantages provide a safe mutual fund to invest and earn a tax-free income.
One of the best features of tax exempt money market fund is the user-friendly nature of the fund. Whenever you want, you can buy and sell the units of the fund in market, unlike the other mutual funds. You also get the check-writing privileges with this fund. Instead of the other funds regulation of T + 3 settlement period, this fund offers same day settlement.
But, before buying in tax exempt money market fund, you should check some things like the objective of investment in fund, the risk factor attached to the fund and the expense ratio of investing in the fund. So, check these factors and starting investing for a tax-free income.
Tax-exempt money market funds are very good for those people, who value safety and tax-free income over the risk-taking.
